Doxybond-LB capsules 100 mg contain a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in various parts of the body.  Conditions that Doxybond-LB capsules 100 mg are used for include: chest infections like pneumonia and bronchitis; urinary tract infections; sexually transmitted diseases; Infections due to Chlamydia including uncomplicated urethral, endocervical or rectal infections; some bacterial eye infections like trachoma, caused by Chlamydia.  Doxybond-LB 100 is also used to treat severe acne; and with other medicines to treat intestinal amoebiasis, a parasitic gut infection.  Doxybond-LB capsules 100mg are also useful for treating infections with Rickettsiae, which is a bacteria transmitted by ticks and lice and causes infections like rocky mountain spotted fever and typhus fever.  Doxybond-LB capsules 100mg also contain a probiotic to help enhance the effectiveness of the antibiotic and to counteract possible side effects of the antibiotic on the balance of intestinal microbial flora.

How does Doxybond-LB work?

Doxybond-LB capsules 100mg contain doxycycline, which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline group of antibiotics, with antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria, including Rickettsiae, Chlamydia, Streptococcus, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Mycoplasma.  Doxycycline in Doxybond-LB capsules 100mg inhibits protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria by blocking the transcription stage, which is reading the protein message from the bacterial RNA.  This action prevents the bacteria from producing essential proteins needed for growth, repair and replication and prevents the spread of infection.  Doxycycline in Doxybond-LB capsules also kills “good” bacteria found in the intestine, particularly lactobacillus, which plays an important part in digestion, as well as stimulating the immune system and helping to prevent the overgrowth of other harmful bacteria that can cause diarrhoea, or the fungus candida that causes thrush.  Lactic Acid Bacillus in Doxybond-LB capsules helps maintain the balance of intestinal microbial flora and reduce the risk of side effects like diarrhoea and thrush.

What does Doxybond-LB contain?

Doxybond-LB capsules contain the active ingredient doxycycline hyclate 100mg, a broad-spectrum antibiotic, used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections.  They also contain Lactic Acid Bacillus as enteric coated pellets (5 billion spores per capsule).
