Cobix general information

What is Cobix used for?

Cobix capsules 200mg are used to treat chronic inflammatory diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, to reduce pain, inflammation, tenderness, stiffness and swelling in the affected joints. They are also used for the management of acute pain and treatment of dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain), when sufficient pain relief from other medications has not been achieved. Cobix capsules 200mg does not cure arthritic disease but can relieve symptoms of pain and inflammation and improve the functional use of affected joints.

How does Cobix work?

Cobix capsules 200mg contain celecoxib, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the production of specific chemicals called prostaglandins (PG) that mediate inflammation. Celecoxib in Cobix capsules 200mg is a specific inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) that is induced during the inflammation process and is responsible for the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins like PGE2, which causes pain, swelling and other symptoms of inflammation. Celecoxib also has anti-pyretic action (reduces fever), but has no effect on the cyclooxygenase 1 enzyme (COX-1) that is needed for normal cellular processes. By inhibiting the action of COX-2 Cobix capsules 200mg relieve the symptoms of inflammation, including pain, swelling, and joint stiffness.

Treating arthritis with Cobix

Cobix capsules 200mg contain celecoxib, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and a specific inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) that is induced during the inflammation process and is responsible for the synthesis of inflammatory chemicals called prostaglandins (PG), particularly PGE2. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are chronic inflammatory diseases in which the joints become inflamed, swollen and painful. Celecoxib in Cobix capsules 200mg help relieve the pain, swelling and other symptoms of inflammation by inhibiting the action of COX-2 therefore blocking PGE2 production. This action reduces pain and inflammation, and improves the functional use of the arthritic joint.
